LONG NOTES

The nutritional status of a patient has prognostic potency concerning short- and long-term outcomes, including survival, in many diseases. The controlling nutritional status (CONUT) score is a method for assessing nutritional status and predicting outcomes of several diseases, especially cancer.

The effects of total red meat (TRM) intake on glycemic control and inflammatory biomarkers are not harmful for those free of heart disease risk.

the three diverse sources of bioactive ingredients, viz., phytochemicals, probiotic bacteria and omega-3-fatty acids have shown promising anti-immunosenescence and anti-cellular senescence potential in immune cells influencing aging and immunity in ways beyond modest stimulation of immune responses. Nutraceuticals-Based Immunotherapeutic Concepts and Opportunities for the Mitigation of Cellular Senescence and Aging: A Narrative Reviewhttps://doi.org/10.1016/j.arr.2020.101141

Health Benefits of Grapes  I freeze red grapes, so they last and I can eat them every night as my bedtime snack, along with nuts and dark chocolate.

The familial resemblance in length of adult life is very modest. Studies
of parent‐offspring and twins suggest that exceptional health and
survival have a stronger genetic component than lifespan generally. To
shed light on the underlying mechanisms, we collected information on
Danish long‐lived siblings (born 1886–1938) from 659 families, their
5379 offspring (born 1917–1982), and 10,398 grandchildren (born
1950–2010)

we examine the effects of five compounds that have been shown to extend longevity (metformin, rapamycin, resveratrol, N-acetyl-l-cysteine, curcumin) in four of the most common neurodegenerative diseases (Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, Huntington’s disease, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis).

Response: Distressing but likely true.  But I still think some evidence is better than none, and when multiple studies confirm a finding, while that still may be from bias, if there is a rational biochemical basis, I accept it.  e.g. fish oil EPA and DHA are detectible molecules, we have no way to synthesize them, they are a dominant molecule in the brain that transits the blood brain barrier, and those who do not eat fish or fish oil have more mental problems.  And there is no hazardous effect unless you eat fish full of mercury. So I take fish oil pills.  That is also why I stopped reading original single articles in AJCN and J Nutrition, and only read Advances in Nutrition which is review articles.

The New York Times and other news outlets recently reported that researchers have developed a diagnostic blood test that can accurately determine the presence of Alzheimer’s. It measures the level of a tau protein (= p-tau217) that is linked to the presence of Alzheimer’s in patients. The new test is just as accurate as the more expensive or invasive diagnostic procedures used in today’s encounters. But, the added fact is that the new blood tests can make the diagnosis up to two years earlier than the other procedures! The findings were published in JAMA.

CAUTION: I COULD NOT GET THIS TO WORK: Dear Friends, A quick update on our end. We have integrated our artificial intelligence (AI) API, named Autoderm into the messaging app Telegram as a skin search bot. From just a photo our AI can screen for 43 skin diseases. It will then give you an instant answer on what your skin ailment is likely to be. No signup required, just download Autoderm bot and snap your skin.
