PDE5 inhibitors
“ameliorate” various symptoms of aging and routinely and significantly extend life span.
*Supplements/Natural Compounds That May Reduce PDE5 Activity*
1. *Icariin* Found in: /Horny Goat Weed/ (Epimedium)
Shown to inhibit PDE5 mildly and improve erectile function in animals.
2.*Quercetin*. Found in: onions, apples, berries Antioxidant with potential PDE5 inhibition in vitro.
3.*Resveratrol*
Found in: red grapes, wine, berries
May modulate nitric oxide pathways and cGMP levels, possibly enhancing PDE5 inhibition effects indirectly.
4.*Berberine*
Found in: Goldenseal, barberry, Oregon grape
May mildly inhibit PDE5 and enhance nitric oxide production.
5.*L-Citrulline / L-Arginine*
These don’t directly inhibit PDE5, but they boost nitric oxide (NO) production, which increases cGMP levels—the molecule PDE5 breaks down. So indirectly, they help /counter/ PDE5 activity.
6. *Ginkgo Biloba*
May increase nitric oxide availability and has shown weak PDE inhibition in some studies.
7. *Kaempferol*
Found in: leafy greens, tea, broccoli
A flavonoid with some research supporting PDE5-inhibitory effects.
Things to Keep in Mind*
Most of these are *not strong enough* to be used as standalone treatments for conditions like ED. Effects vary widely between individuals. They may work better in *combination* or as part of a lifestyle approach (diet, exercise, etc.).
