LONG NOTES:

Lots of microbiome benefits from avocadoes.  Daily avocado consumption resulted in lower fecal bile acid concentrations, greater fecal fatty acid and SCFAs, and greater relative abundances of bacteria capable of fiber fermentation, providing evidence that this nutrient-dense food affects digestive physiology, as well as the composition and metabolic functions of the intestinal microbiota.

Among middle- to older-age adults, replacing Refined Grains with Whole G may be an effective dietary modification to attenuate abdominal adiposity, dyslipidemia, and hyperglycemia over time, thereby reducing the risk of cardiometabolic diseases.

Fat mass and fat-free mass show opposing associations with mortality. Excess fat mass is related to increased mortality risk, whereas fat-free mass protects against risk of mortality. These findings suggest that body composition provides important prognostic information on an individual’s mortality risk not provided by traditional proxies of adiposity such as BMI.

Mushrooms are rich in bioactive compounds. The potential health benefits associated with mushroom intake have gained recent research attention. We thus conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis to assess the association between mushroom intake and risk of cancer at any site. The association between higher mushroom consumption and lower risk of cancer, particularly breast cancer, may indicate a potential protective role for mushrooms in the diet.

In conclusion, although studies were heterogeneous in methodological and statistical approach, most of them indicated a significant relation between Vitamin D level and SARS-CoV-2 infection, COVID-19 composite severity, and mortality.

Using the Google™ Search Engine for Health InformationPossible scores ranged from 0 (lowest) to 12 (“perfect” or highest quality). 160 search results had median and mean scores of 8. One-quarter of the results were of high quality (score of 10–12). 496 advertisements, over twice the number of search results, appeared.

We have identified a group of five bacterial genera linked with high-grade prostate cancer and more rapid progression to aggressive cancer.

So it may be that the correct antibiotic treatment might cure prostate cancer.  I suggest you speak to your doctor about it.

Resveratrol reduces sarcopenia. The paper assesses both putative mechanisms of hormetic responses in muscle stem cells, and potential therapeutic implications and application(s) of hormetic frameworks for slowing muscle loss and reduced functionality during the aging process.

Hormetic dose responses were observed following administration of a broad range of agents, including dietary supplements (e.g., resveratrol). Biogerontology volume 23, pages151–167 (2022)

Mitopure (Urolithin A) is very promising to prevent sarcopenia and heal mitochondria. We discovered that Urolithin A activates an essential anti-aging pathway that repairs and renews our mitochondria (a process called mitophagy) and have now shown promising data on how it translates to physiological benefits such as improved muscle strength and endurance. The safety dossier we submitted to the FDA provides a good summary of the toxicology and safety studies we’ve done on this natural molecule. In addition to the clinical study participants, we have several thousand customers who have been taking Mitopure (Urolithin A) for over a year and also a few select doctors and scientists who have taken the product regularly for several years. No product-related side effects or adverse events have been observed.

AARP What to expect in your 70s – Parts of your brain shrink as you get older, and signaling between different areas can slow. That means you may have trouble remembering names or coming up with a specific word. It may be harder for you to multitask and pay attention. If that makes you concerned about Alzheimer’s disease, don’t worry — these are normal changes. The most common problem is artery plaque buildup [unless you’ve had 500 mg vitamin C twice a day], Age spots and wrinkles are no surprise, but you may also find that you bruise more and sweat less, You may need to cut calories to prevent weight gain, you decrease your strength and flexibility. In your 70s, you might lose an inch or two off your height as disks in your back flatten. Exercise, especially the weight-bearing kind, can help prevent these changes and may even reverse them. you spend less time each night in deep sleep and more in lighter phases. You might wake up more and have trouble going back to sleep. Your body’s defenses lose a step in your 70s, which leaves you more vulnerable to illness. Vaccines don’t work as well as they once did for you, but because you’re susceptible to infection and viruses, it’s still important to get shots for flu, pneumonia, and shingles. On the plus side, allergies are less severe and autoimmune disorders are rare at this age. Your stomach lining is more fragile, which raises your odds of having ulcers. That’s especially true if you take a lot of aspirin or nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). Your bladder can’t hold as much as it once did, and your muscles that support it have lost some strength. more people in their 70s today are sexually active than in previous eras. But there may be more challenges. You and your partner might have vaginal dryness or erectile dysfunction. Your pupils react more slowly to changes in light, because your eye muscles are a bit weaker. You’ll need more time to adjust when you move between the indoors and bright sunlight. Some fine details are hard pick out, because there are fewer cells to send messages about what you see back to your brain. The lens gets thicker and more yellow, which makes it hard to see in dim lighting and makes colors less vibrant.  About one-third of people ages 65-74 have hearing loss, and about half of those over 75 do. High-pitched sounds are especially hard to make out

WebMD: What you eat and drink may have more of an effect than you realize. See what can cause energy spikes and crashes that can be bad for anxiety and depression — and what to choose instead. The fiber in whole fruit fills you up and slows down how your blood takes in energy. Without that fiber, you’re just drinking nutritious sugar-water, Sugar-sweetened drinks like soda have a direct link to depression, diet soda may make you depressed, white bread toast, some pre-packaged dressings and marinades are loaded with sugar,  ketchup, energy drinks, frosting is loaded with around 2 grams of “trans fats” per serving,  processed meat, fried food, refined cereals, candy, pastries, and high-fat dairy products, you’re more likely to be anxious and depressed.

Urolithin A belongs to the class of organic compounds known as benzo-coumarins or dibenzo-α-pyrones. These are polycyclic aromatic compounds containing a 1-benzopyran moiety with a ketone group at the C2 carbon atom (1-benzopyran-2-one).
