SUBJ: Exercise reduces rate of senescence
SUBtitle: Exercise keeps you healthier
Just one point this week. Get a healthy amount of exercise to prevent age-associated diseases. Old cells that have lost the ability to divide are senescent. They produce a variety of harmful chemical signals like that promote cancer, arthritis, dementia, etc. There have been many animal studies proving this, but here is the first one in humans:
Exercise reduces circulating biomarkers of cellular senescence in humans.
Our study provides first-in-human evidence that biomarkers of senescent cell burden are significantly lowered by a structured exercise program and predictive of the adaptive response to exercise.
