Steps to regain health

Below is my review of articles at my website to determine steps to discuss with your doctor to lower your blood pressure.

Essay 9: what to take to reduce the risk for and effects of heart disease and stroke

KEY POINTS to discuss with your doctor and show him/her the basis for these suggestions:

  1. Get exercise: Adults should get 300 minutes of moderate intensity exercise weekly.
  2. Take an NAD supplement. It may be due to age-related nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD) metabolism dysregulation.
  3. Healthier diet – no sugary drinks, no red meat, DASH diet is the best.
  4. Take Curcumin and Resveratrol supplements.
  5. Take Mito-C, AREDs, Melatonin (to get enough sleep), BHB, and astaxanthin. (see products page for where to get them, and analysis page to see why.
  6. Reduce stress – take up meditation, yoga, and Tai Chi.

I reviewed all of my postings since 2024, shown below with links to publications from which the notes were taken.

Nicotinamide riboside combined with exercise to treat hypertension in middle-aged and older adults: a pilot randomized clinical trial.  Aerobic exercise lowers blood pressure (BP) with varying effects in hypertensive adults, potentially due to age-related nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD) metabolism dysregulation.

dementia and stroke and acute death from cardiovascular disease among coffee drinkers with hypertension is a problem. But, even with those caveats, the data base is fairly clear that moderate coffee consumption is beneficial.

Healthier diets during adulthood were associated reaching age 70 free of cognitive impairments, mental health challenges, hypertension, heart disease, and diabetes.

Adults should get 300 minutes of moderate intensity exercise weekly. Nearly half of our participants in young adulthood had suboptimal levels of physical activity, which was significantly associated with the onset of hypertension. Achieving at least twice the current minimum adult [physical activity] guidelines may be more beneficial for the prevention of hypertension than simply meeting the minimum guidelines,” the researchers wrote in their paper.  And by age 60, between 80 to 90 percent of Black men and women had hypertension, compared with just below 70 percent for White men and around half of White women.

Those born during WWII when sugar was rationed are much healthier, those born in the 1950s had a diet loaded with sweets and have much more diabetes and hypertension.

Science – Many risk factors, including cholesterol, hypertension, sex, lack of exercise, insufficient sleep, and genetics aggravate atherosclerosis (7, 8). However, age is the strongest driver; the risk of major cardiovascular events doubles every decade of life. While age may be so strongly associated because time allows many of the typical risk factors to take root and inflict tissue damage, our insight on how the immune system changes with age is an opportunity for intervention. In contrast to many aspects of aging, an aging immune system is in theory druggable, raising the intriguing possibility that the system’s aging can be halted or reversed.

Associations of Systematic Inflammatory Markers with Diet Quality, Blood Pressure, and Obesity in the AIRWAVE Health Monitoring Study.  Findings of this analysis add to the existing knowledge indicating a link between inflammation and conditions such as obesity, hypertension, and behavioral factors including diet quality. Of the various inflammatory scores evaluated, systemic immune-inflammation index and Platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio were consistently significantly associated with diet quality and these conditions.

Curcumin and Resveratrol appears to have safe and potentially synergistic effects on the inflammatory cascades contributing to heart disease and therefore warrants further large scale studies to see if it can drastically improve conservative treatment.96

Science 12 Jan pg 160 – Hypertension is a leading cause of cognition impairment, so get hypertension treated quickly.
