Venous Insufficiency
Hi Prof Roc, Question: I have venous insufficiency in both legs due to surgeries. Got Rx for 12mg oral Albuterol daily. Are there other approaches?
Albuterol is a bronchodilator medication used to treat asthma and COPD. Side effects of albuterol include nervousness or shakiness, headache, throat or nasal irritation, and muscle aches. More-serious — though less common — side effects include a rapid heart rate, called tachycardia, or feelings of fluttering or a pounding heart, called palpitations.
Mayo Clinic: You may be able to lessen some side effects of albuterol if you change the method in which you take the drug or the amount you take. You may also find that a different prescription asthma drug has fewer side effects for you
Venous insufficiency is a condition where the veins in the legs fail to return blood effectively to the heart. This can lead to various symptoms and complications.
Vitamin C is well-known for being one of the most outstanding vitamins for leg circulation.
green tea, blueberries, and citrus fruits.
Your doctor may recommend that you walk, ride a stationary bicycle, or jog for 30 minutes several times a week. Being active helps improve circulation and tones muscles in your legs. This can help pump blood toward the heart. Stretching your calf and thigh muscles can also help improve blood flow.
Water is crucial in almost every bodily function, including vein health. In fact, sufficient water intake is one of the most simple and effective ways to keep your veins in good condition, especially if your veins are already prone to insufficiency. Water helps thin out your blood, so it flows more freely.
Drinks for healthy circulation: Tea (Green tea is great for health); Orange Juice; Water. Pomegranate juice.
Fatty or oily fish such as salmon and tuna are a great source of omega-3 fats, compounds which have been shown in studies to reduce the amount of plaque which sticks in your arteries. These healthy fats also have anti-inflammatory properties which can help with many aspects of your overall health. Fish oil pills unfortunately mostly contain oxidized fish oil, which is harmful. Better to take krill oil, which is not oxidized.
SUMMARY OF RECOMMENDATIONS:
- Mito-C, which I developed, has the equivalent of 6 cups of green tea, plus vitamin C. It is designed to be taken twice a day, in the morning and at bedtime.
- Drink a big glass of water in the morning and at night.
- I suggest krill oil, which is better than fish oil.
- Drink actual green tea whenever you feel like it. I don’t like the taste, so I add honey.
- Exercise is very important, walk or jog 30 minutes several times a week.
- I have blueberries for breakfast every morning. The Mito-C also contains blueberry active ingredients.
Please try these recommendations for a week and let me know if they help.
Thanks, Roc
