LONG NOTES: Mercury fillings are hazardous. Roc’s story.  My wife has teeth of steel, which our son inherited, no cavities at 36.  My mother’s teeth were Swiss cheese, more root canals than enamel. I inherited hers.  In February, one of the old mercury fillings broke, as did my teeth, requiring emergency dental surgery to remove the roots.  Now I am paying $5,000+ to get an implant, which requires a titanium screw in my jaw.

This led me to have other fillings examined, and now my dentist, Dr. Cosic, is taking out all my mercury fillings.  She explained that whenever I chew on anything, a little of the mercury in those fillings is scrapped off, and I swallow mercury.  This leads to arthritis, inflammaging, and other awful consequences.  While it costs to have the fillings removed and replaced, it is much cheaper and less time consuming than getting an implant.

Highlights of benefits of fatty 15, “the longevity supplement”, essential fatty acid. A supplement I take daily.

Caloric restriction (CR) helps in maintaining functional mitochondria as it increases resistance to oxidative stress, promotes the biogenesis of mitochondria, and facilitates an efficient turnover of mitochondria via induction of mitophagy. Reduction of food intake stimulates mitophagy through the upregulation of proteins involved in mitophagy, such as LC3, ULK1, and SIRT1, and the deacetylation of FOXO3, resulting in upregulation of BNIP3 and BNIP3L/NIX. As the decline of mitophagy with aging is a key contributor of age-dependent impairment, CR can promote mitochondrial turnover, ultimately leading to the slowing of the aging process and to the prevention of age-related, sporadic disorders.”

Identification of ZNF652 as a Diagnostic and Therapeutic Target in Osteoarthritis Using Machine Learning.  ZNF652 was found to be related to OA pathogenesis and can potentially serve as a diagnostic and therapeutic target of OA. The underlying mechanism is that ZNF652 was related to nitric oxide anabolism, macrophage proliferation, various signaling pathways, and immune cells and their functions in OA.

Association Between Cognitive Frailty and Depression: A Prospective Cohort Study of Adults Aged 45 Years and Older in China. In the middle-aged and elderly Chinese population, patients with cognitive frailty have a higher risk of depression than those with only frailty and cognitive impairment. This may suggest that health care providers should pay more attention to the mental health of those patients with cognitive frailty.

Exploration of the Key Pathways and Genes Involved in Osteoarthritis Genesis: Evidence from Multiple Platforms and Real-World Validation. We constructed and validated a six-gene diagnostic model for OA patients via machine learning, and KDELR3 emerged as a novel biomarker for OA.

Unveiling the Therapeutic Potential of Berberine in Rheumatoid Arthritis: A Comprehensive Study of Network Pharmacology, Metabolomics, and Intestinal Flora.  Our findings elucidate the multifaceted mechanisms underlying BBR’s therapeutic efficacy in RA, involving inhibition of the PI3K/AKT pathway, modulation of intestinal flora, and regulation of host metabolites. These insights provide novel perspectives on BBR’s role in RA management. [It might also help with osteoarthritis?]

Important Role of Mitochondrial Dysfunction in Immune Triggering and Inflammatory Response in Rheumatoid Arthritis. Mitochondria, the primary site of cellular energy production, play a crucial role in energy metabolism and possess homeostatic regulation capabilities. Mitochondrial function influences the differentiation, activation, and survival of both immune and non-immune cells involved in RA pathogenesis. If the organism experiences hypoxia, genetic predisposition, and oxidative stress, it leads to mitochondrial dysfunction, which further affects immune cell energy metabolism, synovial cell proliferation, apoptosis, and inflammatory signaling, causing the onset and progression of RA; and, mitochondrial regulation is becoming increasingly important in the treatment of RA.

Linking Gut Microbiota, Oral Microbiota, and Serum Metabolites in Insomnia Disorder: A Preliminary Study. Microbiota and serum metabolite changes in IDs are strongly correlated with clinical parameters, implying mechanistic links between altered bacteria, serum metabolites and ID. This study offers novel perspective into the interaction among gut microbiota, oral microbiota, and serum metabolites for ID.

Late Bedtime from the Perspective of Adolescents: A Qualitative Study. Our findings suggest that interventions to improve sleep timing in adolescents should focus on reducing school pressure, building supportive social networks; strengthening adolescents’ self-regulation skills; and enhancing parental involvement in establishing sleep and daily routines for their adolescents.

Feasibility of at-Home Sleep Monitoring in Adolescents with and without Concussion.  Sleep data was measured with: (1) Dreem Headband; (2) Philips Actiwatch; (3) Fitbit; and (4) subjective sleep diary. The results indicate that at-home sleep monitoring is a feasible approach for tracking sleep in adolescents following concussion.

A Harvard geneticist who became the face of the longevity movement has drawn increasingly harsh criticism for claiming his products can reverse aging, according to the Wall Street Journal.

Last year, David Sinclair, PhD, faced backlash for posting on social media that a gene therapy invented in his lab and developed by his company, Life Biosciences, had successfully reversed aging in monkeys. He also claimed the therapy had restored vision in the monkeys.

Earlier this year, Sinclair reportedly said another company he co-founded had developed a supplement that had reversed aging in dogs, according to WSJ.

However, other longevity science experts called this an empty promise. There isn’t an accepted standard for measuring aging, let alone a definition of what it means to “reverse” it, they said. The criticism was paired with the resignations of scientists from the Academy for Health and Lifespan Research, a group that Sinclair co-founded and led. Of the roughly 60 members who resigned, one posted on social media that Sinclair was a “snake oil salesman.”

Alzheimer’s vaccine begins trials. (TY Nevet) A first-in-the-world clinical trial taking place at the Hadassah Medical Organization in Jerusalem will directly test whether the Bacillus Calmette-Guérin (BCG) TB vaccine (see here previously) should be widely administered in the fight against Alzheimer’s.

Instant cure for heart patient. (TY Ron M) Nazia Matar (63) had life-threatening heart arrhythmia with no possible surgical solution. Cardiologist Prof. Mahmoud Suleiman at Haifa’s Rambam hospital detected the root cause and directed a single, high-dose of radiation at the problem tissue. Nazia is now completely cured.
