LONG NOTES:

Be prepared for long waits in emergency rooms! “Seniors stranded in the ER suffer avoidable harm.” ER hallways are “lined from end to end with patients on stretchers in various states of distress, calling out for help, including a number of older patients” states a UCLA doctor. To be prepared when going to the ER: have another person to advocate for you; bring your medications and a medication list; bring your hearing aid and glasses; try to get up and move around; bring things to engage cognitively while waiting-magazines, books, music; bring eye-masks and ear plugs because of non-stop stimulation.

Dr. Fedichev makes a strong case, covered by Popular Mechanics, about the limitations of rejuvenation for humans, suggesting it might offer only around 10-15 additional years of lifespan at best. This assertion, backed by several publications and public presentations, has made waves in our community..” «According to the Gero team, with current technologies, we have the potential to double our lifespan—or even live for hundreds of years—by halting aging, as seen in negligibly senescent animals like naked mole rats and some species of bats. However, the therapeutic targets, drugs, and biomarkers should be completely different from those used by the modern longevity industry to achieve rejuvenation effects. To reach the market in roughly 10 years, dozens of such approaches should start now…» Learn more about the event, research, project pipeline, and the positions of the opponents by clicking the link https://openlongevity.org/debates

Helping recovery from strokes. Israel’s BrainQ (see here previously) reported promising results from a 15-center clinical trial that uses an AI-powered electromagnetic field therapy to help reduce disabilities in people after suffering a severe ischemic stroke.

US approval for spinal fusion. (TY Atid-EDI) Israel’s Zygofix (see here previously) has received US-FDA approval for its zLOCK Lumbar Facet Fixation System.  Zygofix’s already has European CE certification for its adaptable implant, and says it is now positioned to revolutionize spinal fusion surgery.

Remote diagnostics at 2,500+ US schools. (TY OurCrowd) Israel’s TytoCare (see here previously) now provides remote care support at clinics in more than 2,500 schools in 31 US states. Recent arrangements include schools in Guilford County, N.C., Title-1 schools across Virginia, and schools in Edmonson County, Kentucky.

AARP: foods that spike your blood sugar: study : refined grains, plant-based milks, sugar-free snacks, dried fruit, diet soda.

According to the CDC, these 5 things can also boost your blood sugar:

  1. Sunburn: Blame the pain and stress, which increases blood sugar.
  2. Dehydration: Your blood sugar is more concentrated when there’s less water in the body.
  3. Losing sleep: Even just one bad night can affect how well your body uses insulin.
  4. Coffee: Yes, even without sweetener. “Some people’s blood sugar is extra-sensitive to caffeine,” the CDC says.
  5. Time of day: The later it gets, the harder it is to control blood sugar.
