ASTRAGALUS – COMMENTS FROM PEOPLE WHO DO NOT TAKE IT

RESPONSE 1– I tested if a product that lists “Astragalus membranaceus” as it’s first active ingredient affected my biological age. The mix was reported to let bugs live longer[1]. Unfortunately, it didn’t seem to affect my biological age[2]. Maybe because I already do so many other things to slow aging, I have its metabolic pathway(s) covered. I also found 2 dozen life span experiments in my ginormous spread sheet for Astragalus[3]. Most were in yeast and worms. The results were contradictory and unimpressive. So, Kingsley

RESPONSE 2: While is it well known that astragalus powder is beneficial for some aspects of health, the possibility of it having life-extending properties is most likely related to its content of astragaloside IV or cycloastragenol (as I found out about 10 years ago and many here have described), which is a very tiny part of the standard powder. I have taken astragalus powder many times off and on over 25 years, but have never seen any major effect either positive or negative, so I have not continued to include it as one of my “always take” supplements. I never tried TA-65 because it is far, far too expensive for my wealth/income level, but it is less than the price recently posted on GRG if purchased from RevGenetics whose owner Anthony Loera has offered a 50% discount to GRGers on all of his fine products.

RESPONSE 3: Roc, Been taking the astralagus root liquid you mention and it did nothing.  who knows?  Caveat Emptor.  Very expensive.
