LONG NOTES:
Alternate back stretching in less time. Do 5 cat cows. Then kneel on one knee and opposite hand. Reach other knee and hand in opposite directions. Repeat 5 times on each side. This works fine for me, doing it every morning and night.
Science 13 Nov 2025-pg 681. Meditations on memory. Memories are edited each time we recall them, so we can implant false memories even unconsciously. Pg 688-Even one drink of alcohol increases your risk of dementia, shown by a study of half a million people age 56 to 72. Pg. 689-Roommate ap use on cell phones is contagious, reduced GPA by 36% and wages by 2%. Heavy ap users got less sleep and were often late or missed classes.
AARP: 25 foods that don’t cause weight gain: Berries, chickpeas, mushrooms, celery,, popcorn, grapefruit, spinach, cottage cheese, cauliflower, oatmeal, carrots, blackbeans, lettuce, pomegranates, broccoli, salmon, oranges, tofu, kale, eggs, tomatoes, brown rice, skinless chicken breast, Greek yogurt, cucumbers.
Destroying RNA in a cancer cell. Scientists at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem have built a molecule that targets and destroys cancer cells. The used Ribonuclease-Targeting Chimera (RIBOTAC) to locate an RNA module called TERRA inside a tumor, and then releases an enzyme RNase L to rip it apart.
Hypnosis simulates gastric bypass. The UK Daily Mail has reported about Hadassah hospital’s program of hypnosis to convince obese patients that they have had gastric bypass surgery. Patients no longer have cravings for food and their body weight has been reduced by more than 10 percent.
Linking migraines to high blood pressure in teens. A study of two million adolescents by researchers at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem reveals that teens diagnosed with migraines were three times more likely to have hypertension than their peers. Migraines could be an early indication of heart problems.
• High-Fiber Foods May Fight T Cell Senescence
• Older people with more blood butyrate have fewer senescent T cells.
• Butyrate is found in some foods, and it decreases in the bloodstream with aging.
• It decreases the expression of IL-6, a known inflammatory marker, in senescent T cells.
• Older people with more blood butyrate have fewer senescent T cells.
• Mice that were exposed to a more butyrate-rich gut microbiome from younger mice also have fewer senescent T cells and less IL-6.
• An association study found that populations that speak multiple languages age more slowly than populations that don’t.
• This study used a biobehavioral aging metric that combined cognitive ability, physical function, and multiple age-related conditions.
Balance and Gait Disorders (BGD) in the Aged Population. Causes, Assessment and Management: A Literature Review. Optimal BGD management requires the implication of several health professionals. Rehabilitation programs such as the “Otago exercise programme” and “falls management exercise” have been validated. Assistive technologies (canes, walkers, grab bars, and orthopedic footwear or automated alert systems), and new technologies (virtual reality) can also be used. Additional steps include medication review and deprescribing, occupational therapy and home environment adaptations. Understanding and managing BGDs in OAs remains a major public health issue, and is vital for preserving independence in later life.
Efficacy of Tai Chi on Balance, Mobility, and Cognitive Function in Community-Dwelling Older Adults: A Randomized Controlled Trial
This study developed a structured physical activity program rooted in Tai Chi culture. This multimodal exercise approach may have significant benefits for older adults in maintaining balance, enhancing mobility, and preserving cognitive function.
Denosumab for Primary Osteoporosis and Its Impact on Sarcopenia in the Chinese Population: Insights from Clinical Evidence and RANKL Pathway Mendelian Randomization. Denosumab effectively treats osteoporosis and improves muscle function in Chinese patients. Genetic evidence supports a causal role of the RANKL pathway in sarcopenia, indicating that RANKL overexpression may contribute to its development. By integrating clinical and genetic evidence, our findings suggest that denosumab may represent a promising therapeutic option for patients with concurrent osteoporosis and sarcopenia.
