SUBtitle: Vitamin C protects from stroke damage to your brain.
Student research posters coming soon. Thanks to hours of my labor, I am adding to my website about 100 student research posters on nutrition that I supervised and evaluated. I hope to highlight one each newsletter. They provide a lot of indepth information with references on topics likely to be of interest to you or your acquaintances.

They examined over 3,000 heart bypass patients and found that patients who live in a “greener” environment are at a lower risk of mortality than those who live in a “non-green” environment.
The interplay of aging, adipose tissue, and COVID-19: a potent alliance with implications for health. Adipose tissue has been investigated as a potential site for active SARS-CoV-2 infection, suggesting its plausible role in virus persistence and contribution to both acute and long-term consequences associated with COVID-19.
Scientists Discover a New Mechanism of Age-Related Obesity. It is often hard to lose weight, and it becomes harder with age. While it seems simple enough to eat less, signals in the brain are telling people to eat more. Modern science is starting to understand that it is, in fact, all in the head, but in a very particular way. In a new study published in Cell Metabolism, researchers from Nagoya University in Japan investigated an important player in anti-obesity signaling in the brain: melanocortin-4 receptor (MC4R). This protein is expressed in a subset of hypothalamic neurons, and genetic deficiencies in the gene that codes for it result in overeating and obesity in rodents and humans [2]. The researchers found that MC4R in primary cilia transfers signals that increase energy expenditure via thermogenesis in brown adipose tissue (BAT). More importantly, MC4R-positive primary cilia seemed to shorten with age, almost disappearing
A study of 23 progressive multiple sclerosis patients at Hadassah Hospital Ein Kerem highlighted significant beneficial effects of repeated stem cell injections. They improved neurological function, cognition, and quality of life with no side effects.
Researchers at Tel Aviv University have discovered in the laboratory that two existing medicines can be used to enhance treatments against bone cancer. It is important as bone cancer is often the result of metastasis (spreading) in breast cancer patients.
Scientists Uncover Mechanism Viruses Use to Cause Cancer. Findings from a new study have wide ranging implications as viruses are responsible for between 10 to 20 percent of cancers globally. Researchers from the Cleveland Clinic uncovered one of the mechanisms that a type of virus called Kaposi sarcoma-associated herpesvirus (KSHV) uses to induce cancer.
