SUBtitle: removal of senescent skin cells with ABT-263 can improve skin

Welcome to the many new readers who heard my Sirius XM broadcast or my symposium presentation.  I gave the presentation at a video conference,

“37th International Conference on Biomedical & Cancer Research. “We are delighted to inform you that your video, A Review of Nutrients to Extend Healthspan and Avoid Cancer by Reducing the Amount of Protein Misfolding and Calcification”, is awarded as Best Video among all the conference videos.”   I will send the link so you can watch it in a few days.

LONG NOTES:

Thanks to the many new readers and subscribers, I am uploading all of my research posters onto my website. Each week I will be providing a link to a different poster.  But the first one is “Roc’s 64 steps for better healthspan”, a poster presented at the Linus Pauling Meetings several years ago in which I listed all of the actions I have concluded are important to take to have a long, healthy life-span.

We focus on the recent pharmacological advances in the treatment of OA and summarize the most significant promising agents based on their molecular effects. Those are classified here into broad categories: anti-inflammatory, modulation of the activity of matrix metalloproteases, anabolic, and unconventional pleiotropic agents. ROC notes: this may be worth discussing with your doctor. The only over the counter supplement suggested is  Ipriflavone, a dietary supplement with anabolic effects on the bone BUT Roc found an article stating “Our data indicate that ipriflavone does not prevent bone loss or affect biochemical markers of bone metabolism. Additionally, ipriflavone induces lymphocytopenia in a significant number of women.

Chronic senescence, such as aging, contributes to age-related tissue dysfunction and disease development. The accumulation of senescent fibroblasts and the senescence-associated secretory phenotype is particularly implicated in this process. Removal of senescent cells has been reported to prevent tissue dysfunction and to extend the life span during aging. ABT-263 (navitoclax), which inhibits antiapoptotic proteins, is a leading antiaging drug; however, its role in human skin aging is unclear. This study aimed to determine the rejuvenating effects of ABT-263 on aging skin using a human skin graft mouse model.  Our results indicate that selective removal of senescent skin cells with ABT-263 can improve the aging phenotype of human skin without side effects. ABT-263 is, thus, a novel potential therapeutic agent for skin aging.

Preoperative Vitamin D Deficiency is Associated with Increased One-Year Mortality in Chinese Geriatric Hip Fracture Patients – A Propensity Score Matching Study

The CDC reported that more than 57% of the kids had a sugary beverage in the prior week fruits and veggies were way down the list.

Vaping is the new cigarette! In analyzing epithelial cells taken from the mouths of vapers, smokers and people who had never vaped or smoked, researchers found that vapers and smokers had more than twice the amount of DNA damage as found in non-users.
