Israel’s Oramed (see here previously) has reported that its ORMD-0801 oral insulin candidate successfully reduced the liver fat in its Phase 2 trial on Type 2 diabetes patients with non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (“NASH”).  There were no safety issues in the double-blind, multi-center trial.

Blood test for colon and pancreatic cancer. (TY Hazel) Scientists at Israel’s Weizmann Institute have developed a blood test to detect colorectal cancer, which is normally found through an invasive test, and pancreatic cancer, which has no single diagnostic test. The proof of concept is now to be taken to trials.

WebMD Best sleep-Your mattress should be firm enough to support your back and sleep position, but soft enough to fit the shape of your body. Wash sheets at least once a week, pillow so your head isn’t too far forward or back. Scientists don’t know why, but it may be that making your bed simply makes you feel good about where you take your nightly rest. A clean bedroom may help, too. If you sleep on your pillow, use a soft or no pillow, sleeping on your back can make snoring worse, and it’s hard on your back. All “side sleep” positions are good, but the fetal position, with your knees bent slightly toward your chest, seems to be best. If your feet get cold, which can be bad for sleep, wear socks.

AARP Blood pressure meds may help memory-Commonly prescribed ACE inhibitors and ARBs could offer added brain benefits, study shows CE inhibitors: Captopril (Capoten), Fosinopril (Monopril), Lisinopril (Prinivil, Zestril), Perindopril (Aceon), Ramipril (Altace), Trandolapril (Mavik)-ARBs: Telmisartan (Micardis), Candesartan (Atacand)

Uterine cancer signs: These can play a role in how likely you are to have uterine cancer, a red, pink, or white discharge — between periods, Pain in your pelvis

Bad for your eyes: Smoking, Staring at your smartphone, Not wearing sunglasses, Sleeping in your contact lenses, try not to be overly aggressive or frequent rubbing your eyes, Heavy drinking

Women are more likely to report nontraditional symptoms of stroke and, in particular, altered mental states.“Our results show that vitamin C deficiency should be considered a risk factor for this severe type of stroke, as were high blood pressure, drinking alcohol and being overweight in our study,” researcher Dr. Stéphane Vannier, M.D., of Pontchaillou University Hospital in France, stated. Vitamin C. Having low levels of vitamin C contributes to the development of atherosclerosis and other damage to blood vessels and the consequences, such as stroke.
